What is Personal Training?
Customized for Success
Personal Training can be many different things depending on your needs and goals — that's what makes it personal! Whether you want to compete in triathlons, enjoy long hikes, or just look and feel better, HERS trainers can customize a plan that works within your schedule and budget and that will ensure success.
You can choose to workout with your trainer as often as five times per week, but most clients opt for one to three training sessions per week for maximum effectiveness. We can focus on cardio-conditioning, muscle-conditioning, flexibility, nutrition or a combination of all these depending on your goals, needs, strengths and weaknesses. And you can choose to train for 30-minute or 60-minute sessions depending on your time. You also have the option to train alone, with a partner or in a small group setting. Once you've established a program, your workouts can take place within the studio, outdoors or even at your home or work.
When you sign up with a trainer, you can expect regular education, support and guidance. Your trainer will hold you accountable – it’s nice to know you always have someone looking over your shoulder. Your trainer will focus on safety, variety, efficiency and effectiveness.
Building the Foundation
Your first session with a trainer is critical to helping you set up a foundation for success. Seven out of ten people who start an exercise program drop out within two or three months. This high drop-out rate is often due to the fact that the individual has not spent any time establishing the right program for them based on their history, goals, individual needs and lifestyle. Our trainers spend a good portion of the first session talking with you to determine which type of program will help you stay motivated so that you progress, experience results and succeed. We have established a 4-step process for motivation that we teach all our clients to ensure they stick to the program.
Once your training program is designed and a workout routine is established, we recommend that you visit your trainer once every six to eight weeks to modify your program to ensure you're always progressing and experiencing results. We have helped many different clients over the years from beginners, elderly individuals, people experiencing back, neck, knee and shoulder problems, mountain climbers, competitive skiers and boarders, competitive basketball players, wheelchair athletes, triathletes, runners, cyclists, pre/post natal, obese clients, those with diabetes, osteoporosis and many more.
